The decentralized exchange Hyperliquid has just reached a major milestone in its tokenomics management with the official launch of the Aligned Quote Asset v2 (AQAv2) program. This initiative aims to increase deflationary pressure on HYPE, the ecosystem's native asset, by leveraging its vast stablecoin reserves. Until now, the supply reduction strategy relied primarily on allocating a portion of transaction fees from HyperCore and burning gas fees on HyperEVM—mechanisms that have already led to the removal of nearly 47 million tokens.

The new AQAv2 framework introduces an innovative approach by capitalizing on the massive USDC liquidity held by the protocol. As the primary collateral for perpetual contracts and the reference unit of account, USDC plays a central role in the platform's activity. From now on, approximately 90% of the yields generated by these stablecoin holdings, after deducting operational costs, will be allocated to the Assistance Fund. The fund will then regularly repurchase HYPE tokens on the secondary market before permanently burning them, thereby mechanically reinforcing the asset's scarcity.

Financially speaking, the projections surrounding this rollout are significant. Internal estimates suggest a potential of $135 million to $160 million in annualized revenue injected exclusively into this buyback-and-burn process. These amounts are in addition to the $1 billion in trading fees already allocated annually to HYPE repurchases. This dynamic illustrates the platform's commitment to converting its operational profitability into a direct lever for supporting the value of its governance token.

The real-world impact of this measure remains conditional upon the volatility of the USDC volume deposited on the protocol and market conditions affecting reserve yields. Nevertheless, by integrating these financial flows into its deflationary mechanism, Hyperliquid confirms an aggressive strategy focused on the long-term viability of its internal economy. For HYPE holders, these developments signal a clear commitment to reducing circulating supply, positioning the project on a trajectory of financial maturity where token utility is directly correlated with the platform's activity and surplus.
