The Ethereum ecosystem is already looking well beyond the Glamsterdam upgrade scheduled for the end of the year. The "Cluster Protocol" collective, bringing together around sixty experts and engineers, has just unveiled a structured roadmap for the future update dubbed Hegotá, expected sometime in 2027. To steer this major technical evolution, developers have established a rigorous prioritization system, ranking 62 Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) based on their urgency and network impact.

At the heart of this classification, two proposals stand out as top priorities, receiving an "S" rating. Regarding consensus, EIP-7805, known as FOCIL, focuses on combating censorship by optimizing the separation between block builders and transaction selectors. On the execution layer, EIP-8141 takes center stage, introducing native account abstraction. This breakthrough will not only simplify paying transaction fees without directly holding Ether, but it also serves as the technical foundation for future advanced cryptographic signatures.

The scope of this planning goes beyond immediate features to address the existential threat of quantum computing. The collective has formalized a clear ambition: to guarantee full post-quantum resistance for the network's three pillars—execution, consensus, and data availability—by December 2029. This timeline aligns with security standards adopted by tech giants like Google and Microsoft, anticipating the dreaded "Q-day" scenario, where the power of quantum computers could compromise current cryptographic systems.

By setting these goals, the Ethereum community is demonstrating a strategic commitment to long-term sustainability. This roadmap is part of a broader research program, including improving block finalization speeds, strengthening privacy, and optimizing zkEVM technologies. By prioritizing 62 proposals—16 of which have been granted priority status and 28 of which have already been discarded—developers are solidifying the network's technical trajectory to meet the technological challenges of the coming decade.
