Bitcoin at $400,000 by 2030?
During a recent interview on the Money Rehab podcast, the founder and CEO of Coinbase addressed his previous comments regarding Bitcoin potentially reaching $400,000 by 2030. He responded to host Nicole Lapin’s questions on the matter, noting that his prediction was made when BTC was trading around $63,000 this past summer.

It's just a hypothesis on my part. But if you look at the history of Bitcoin, it has been one of the best-performing assets of the last decade or so, and it tends to move in four-year cycles. (...) So, if it follows a similar trajectory, I could envision a scenario where it hits three times its previous all-time high by 2030.
The reasoning lies in Bitcoin's famous halvings, which cut the reward for miners in half upon the resolution of a block—currently set at 3.125 BTC. The next reduction is expected around April 2028, serving as the catalyst for the growth predicted by Brian Armstrong.

The CLARITY Act: another element to watch
During the interview, Brian Armstrong also discussed the current state of the crypto sector in the United States, specifically the stalling of the CLARITY Act in the Senate. He noted that this does not directly concern Bitcoin—or even Ethereum—as their decentralized nature clearly places them in the commodities category as defined by the CFTC.
The proposed regulatory framework aims to establish a clear boundary between cryptocurrencies regulated by the CFTC and those classified as securities by the SEC. Such a distinction could significantly boost the development of the American crypto ecosystem and attract institutional investors, which would, in turn, have a positive impact on Bitcoin.

Nevertheless, the passage of the CLARITY Act is not a fundamental component of his $400,000 price target for 2030. In that specific scenario, the Coinbase founder remains focused solely on the repetition of past BTC cycles.
Predicting the short term is much more challenging, according to him. When asked for a price target for the end of the year, Brian Armstrong cautiously offered a range between $80,000 and $90,000, given that BTC is already trading at approximately $83,000 at the time of writing.
