According to Hayden Adams, founder of the Uniswap protocol, the uniswap.com domain was reportedly acquired by SBF for a sum exceeding $1 million after the protocol team itself refused to yield to the initial owner's exorbitant financial demands. This transaction, while not officially documented, illustrates the sometimes aggressive maneuvers surrounding strategic assets during the peak of the 2021 speculative bubble.

Once in possession of the address, the new owner redirected web traffic toward SushiSwap, a direct competitor born from Uniswap's source code. This redirection to a rival did not take long to catch the attention of the legal teams at Uniswap Labs. They immediately initiated proceedings with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to challenge the use of their protected trademark, arguing that the domain owner was acting in clear bad faith.

The verdict handed down by WIPO in September 2021 was unequivocal. The arbitrators concluded that the registration and operation of the domain harmed the original brand and caused deliberate confusion for users. Consequently, the transfer of the address to Uniswap Labs was ordered without any financial compensation paid to the holder.
